News from Q1 2020!

A quick round-up of some of the highlights from Q1 at Lighthouse

Although the latter part of Q1 brought with it some unforeseen challenges, the opening months of 2020 were chock-a-block with good news for us at Lighthouse Studios. One of our biggest causes for celebration was the fact that we turned three years old this February, and during a business breakfast briefing we revisited some of the highlights from the previous year.

We also revealed exciting news about several upcoming productions that are currently at various stages in the pipeline. Suffice it to say that the road to our fourth birthday is jam-packed with projects that we can already see will have a real impact on audiences – just the way we like it.

We were also over the moon to see If You Give A Mouse A Cookie win Gold at the Parents’ Choice Awards earlier this year. We have thoroughly enjoyed working on this with our partners over at Amazon, and last month officially wrapped season two! Our wrap party took place in the gorgeous Set Theatre, Kilkenny, and was full of joy and celebration of a job well done.

Heading into the month of March we were in full prep mode for the Animation Dingle festival, where we were due to be sponsoring an award for the inaugural Best Irish Professional Film 2020. Though the festival was unfortunately cancelled due to the Covid-19 restrictions, we were delighted when we heard that the festival team would hold an awards ceremony behind closed doors which could be accessed via a live stream. Our award went to Pádraig Fagan for the winning entry An Gadhar Dubh – a huge well done to all involved. We look forward to Animation Dingle 2021.

Though these are uncertain times, we are happy to report that we are still operational, with our crew busy working on an adaptation of a graphic novel, development of a show we pitched last September, the highly anticipated The Cuphead Show in partnership with Netflix and much more. Our production partners have been extremely supportive of our work from home measures, and our crew has really come together as a team to make these new ways of working both productive and fun. While we cannot wait to resume normality and be able to see each other in the studio again, we are grateful to have been able to adapt to these new ways of working!
