Lighthouse celebrates its fourth birthday

It was our studios’ fourth birthday in February, an event which unfortunately couldn’t be celebrated in person. However, in true Lighthouse fashion, crew were still fed with delicious cake – most of which was scoffed down by the time the online event kicked off.

For our fifth birthday next year, we’re looking forward to be able to publicly shout about some of the incredible projects we’ve been working on. Watch this space!

Cormac Slevin is promoted to Head of Production

Cormac Slevin’s recent promotion to Head of Production is the latest in a string of strategic hires and promotions at Lighthouse.

With over 30 years of experience in the animation industry, Cormac first joined the studio back in 2017. It was early days for Lighthouse back then, and Cormac was actually one of the very first crew members.

He has been leading the studios’ production teams ever since and has witnessed the studio quickly become a powerhouse in global animation, today employing over 200 crew.

Congratulations to Cormac on the promotion.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with live music streamed from our library

Usually we have some kind of event planned for St Patrick’s Day, however due to Covid restrictions we could only celebrate remotely.

Nonetheless, Paddy’s Day wouldn’t really be Paddy’s Day without some live trad music. That’s why we were excited to welcome the musical talents of Paddy Cleere and Friends to our studio’s library for a live stream to our crew members who logged on from all over the world. Crew were also invited to come up to the studio and collect some shamrocks for an added boost of Irish luck.

Congrats to all the winners at Animation Dingle

For the second year in a row, the annual Animation Dingle awards ceremony was held behind closed doors. Forest, an experimental short film from the Belfast School of Art, received awards in the categories of Best Director and Best Design/Art Direction, as well as the award which we sponsored, the inaugural Best Animated Short Audience Choice Award. Congratulations to all involved and to all the winners on the night.

George Grimble wins our latest Flare competition

Our regular in-house mini-movie competition always receives some cracking entries, and this round’s winner was George Grimble, one of our character animators. The theme was Anarchy. We think it’s excellent and we’re sure you will too! Check it out below.
