Annecy 2022

Back to Spotlight

Annecy 2022 was the first animation festival we’ve attended in person since 2019, and we really made the most of it! We shared a stand with our partners, Cartoon Saloon, got to meet some of the brightest new talent in the industry, attended a wide mix of screenings, talks and networking events, and caught up with current and future creative partners.

Two Lighthouse shows made the official selection – El Deafo, which was produced at Lighthouse for Apple TV+, and Netflix’s The Cuphead Show!, which we animated from layout to locked picture. Alas, it wasn’t to be our year at Annecy – but on Wednesday we received news that El Deafo had won this year’s theme prize at Prix Jeunesse, the Power of Sound award. Needless to say, celebrations were had!

As always, the stunning backdrop of mountains and lake had us all momentarily breathless as we cycled our way from screenings and talks to meetings and parties.

Our stand was extremely busy all week and we were even treated to visits from current and past Lighthouse Keepers!

Our digital business cards went down a storm!

As Annecy wound down to a close, we finally managed to squeeze in a team dinner.

We’re looking forward to Annecy 2023 already!
